Cool Symbols preview

Your keyboard has letters, numbers, and a handful of punctuation marks. But the text on your phone can show far more than that: hearts, stars, arrows, chess pieces, musical notes, currency signs, Japanese characters, and thousands of emoji. The problem is getting to them. Most keyboards hide symbols behind long-presses and extra menus, and some aren't on your keyboard at all.

This cool symbols page puts them all in one place. Browse by category, search by name, and tap any symbol to copy it. Want several? Every symbol you tap is also added to your collection at the bottom of the tool, so you can build a whole line of decorations and copy it in one go.

What Are Text Symbols?

Text symbols are characters from the Unicode standard, the system that gives every letter, number, and sign a unique code so that all devices display them the same way. Unicode contains well over 100,000 characters. Alongside the alphabets of the world's languages, it includes thousands of signs designed for maths, science, music, games, maps, and decoration.

Because symbols are real text characters, not images, they behave like letters. You can paste them into a bio, a username, a message, a document, or a game, and they'll stay as text. They can be searched, copied again, and resized along with the rest of your writing.

Emoji are a special group of Unicode characters that phones draw in color. A heart can appear as a simple text symbol (♥) or as a colorful emoji (❤️), depending on the character and the device.

How to Copy and Paste Symbols

  1. Choose a category from the row of buttons, such as Hearts, Stars, Arrows, or Gaming Symbols.
  2. Or search for what you need, like "heart", "arrow", "check", or "music".
  3. Tap a symbol. It's copied instantly and added to your collection.
  4. Paste it wherever you want: a bio, a caption, a chat, or a document.
  5. Need several? Keep tapping, then use "Copy all" to copy your whole collection at once.

Your collection is saved in your browser, so it will still be there if you come back later on the same device.

Popular Ways to Use Symbols

  • Instagram and TikTok bios. Use symbols as bullet points to organize your bio, like "✦ travel ✦ food ✦ stories".
  • Gaming names. Frame your nickname with ꧁ ꧂, 乂, or ⚔ to make it stand out in lobbies.
  • Captions. A single ✨ or ♡ at the end of a caption adds personality without clutter.
  • WhatsApp status and group names. Decorate them with flowers, stars, or hearts.
  • Lists and notes. Check marks, arrows, and bullets make plain-text lists easy to read.
  • Documents and emails. Use © ™ ° € ₹ and maths symbols when your keyboard doesn't have them.

Symbols vs. Emoji: What's the Difference?

Both are Unicode characters, but they're displayed differently. Text symbols like ★, ♥, and ➤ are drawn in the same color as your text, using the current font. They look clean and minimal and blend in with your writing. Emoji like ⭐ and ❤️ are drawn as small colorful pictures by your phone's emoji font, so they look slightly different on iPhone, Android, Windows, and other systems.

Some characters can appear either way. A tiny invisible marker called a variation selector tells the device whether to show the text version or the emoji version. That's why a heart pasted into one app may appear black while in another it turns red. Neither is wrong; it's just how each platform interprets the character.

Why Do Some Symbols Show as Boxes?

If you see an empty box (□) or a question mark instead of a symbol, the device displaying the text doesn't have a font that includes that character. This mostly happens with rare symbols on older phones or computers. Popular symbols such as hearts, stars, arrows, and check marks are supported almost everywhere. Newer emoji may not appear on devices that haven't been updated for a few years, which is why the emoji on this page focus on widely supported ones.

If your friends see boxes, try a simpler symbol from the same category, or check the text on their device before using it in something important like a username.

Tips for Using Symbols Well

  • Use one theme. Stars with stars, flowers with flowers. Mixing ten different symbols looks messy.
  • Use symbols as structure. Bullets, arrows, and dividers make bios and posts easier to scan.
  • Don't replace important words. "I ♥ coffee" works, but symbols aren't searchable, so keep key words in plain text.
  • Mind screen readers. Assistive tools read symbols aloud by name, so a line of twenty stars becomes "star star star…". Keep decoration short.
  • Check character limits. Some symbols and most emoji count as two characters in apps like Instagram and X.

Making Decorative Borders and Dividers

Dividers are an easy way to separate sections in a long caption, a Discord announcement, or a profile description. Use one from the Lines and Dividers category, or build your own in the collection tray: tap ━ several times with a ✦ in the middle, add a space, and copy the result. A simple pattern like "━━━ ✦ ━━━" looks neat in almost any app. For a softer look, try "︵‿︵‿︵" or a line of small stars "⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩".

To wrap your text in symbols automatically, try the text decorator, which adds frames like ꧁༺ name ༻꧂ around anything you type.

Why Use This Cool Symbols Page?

Instead of hunting through keyboard menus or copying symbols one by one from different sites, you get a large, organized library with search, one-tap copying, and a collection tray for building combinations. It works on phones and computers, needs no app or sign-up, and nothing you copy leaves your device. When you're ready to style the letters too, the fancy text generator and number font generator pair perfectly with these symbols.
